RCP-Technik is releasing a zoom lens for the iPhone 4. The Rollei telephoto zoom lens (site in German) mounts onto the back of the iPhone using a clasp system that grabs the phone. The lens only has manual focus, but with the large view screen it will be easier to get shots in focus so long as you are not using it in direct sunlight. Even then it might be easier to manually focus than a small digital camera screen.
The lens has an impressive F1.1 aperture rating. At 8X, it is the equivalent of a 280mm zoom lens.
The lens will come with the included mount, a tabletop tripod and a hard case. It will cost ?34.95 and will be available later this month. That is about $50 US.
We searched around to see if any sample images were available, but couldn?t find any. If anyone comes across some, let usknow. We hope this will show up here in the US. Bet the HollywoodPaparazziis hoping it will too.
There are a few photographic gadgets for the iPhone 4. One of our favorites is a multi-purpose tripod mount called The Glif which can be attached to the phone and has a threaded tripod mount. It also acts as a stand for the iPhone.
