Sony LT29i Hayabusa Coming In June With 13MP ?Stacked? Camera Sensor

The Sony LT29i, aka ?Hayabusa? is said to come with the new 13-megapixel ?stacked? camera sensor from Sony. This will deliver an improved low-light performance as well as opening up the doors to the ?HDR Video? function. But wait, there?s more.

Other features include a 4.55? HD Reality Display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset and it is just 7mm thin, with a 2200mAh battery. Some are saying that this may be Sony?s best phone yet. The leaked picture of the handset?s prototype shows that it will be all-display at the front, and have just the on-screen buttons for Android Ice Cream Sandwich for navigation.

It looks like it will be announced in June with sales starting in July. When we learn more, we will let you know.

Samsung Stages Fake Protest Outside Apple Store (Video)

Samsung latest adverts and marketing campaigns have been having a dig at Apple, their latest one is somewhat strange as Samsung decided to stage a fake protest outside an Apple Store in Australia.

Samsung sent a bus load of protesters to� an Apple Store in Australia, and then had the protesters chant ?Wake Up? outside the store while brandishing some ?Wake Up signs?.

Obviously this is another attempt by Samsung to have a dig at Apple, and they have also created a website called Wake Up Australia, that has a countdown to the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S III.

Rendering of Original Google Phone Idea from 2006 Surfaces

A rendering of what Google had in mind for its original Google Phone surfaced this week. The rendering apparently came up in some paperwork that had to do with the suit between Oracle and Google over Android.

The rendering reminds me a lot of the failed web OS devices that launched early on. What we see is a phone with a physical keyboard lacking the touchscreen we all know today. The rendering is apparently from 2006, which was year before Apple launched the iPhone and change the smartphone world.

The company had apparently planned to sell its own phone directly and subsidize the data plan to drive adoption. The partner was apparently going to be T-Mobile, but the plan never came to be.

NASA Creates Earthquake Detection System Using GPS Satellites and Ground Stations

NASA has announced that it is taking advantage of GPS satellites that are in orbit to help detect earthquakes on the ground more quickly and precisely. Faster detection will allow the dispatch emergency personnel quicker and will help provide advance notice of any tsunamis the earthquakes might create.

The network is called READI and has 500 ground stations scattered throughout California, Oregon, and Washington. If a large earthquake is detected the GPS data is automatically captured to determine the location, magnitude, and details about the fault rupture.

Currently data is captured by seismic hardware on the ground and capturing that data can be difficult according to NASA. The new system will be quicker and should help save lives. The system uses second by second measurements of ground displacements.
