Android developer Adam Outler, courtesy of Phandroid, confirmed that he unlocked the bootloader on his own personal Verizon Galaxy Note 2. However, thus far, it appears that the bootloader unlock method isn?t available to users just yet though it could arrive shortly if testing goes well. It also appears that users may have to make some sort of hardware modification in order to get the bootloader unlocked.
It?s unclear just how complicated that hardware modification might be though we expect to find out more at some point this week. At the very least, there is proof that the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 bootloader is unlockable, even if it takes quite a bit of effort to get it done.
This is fantastic news for owners of the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 who may have thought that a process would never be found. Verizon is notorious for locking up its bootloaders tight leaving owners of its devices unable to install custom ROMs. Samsung was forced to release a Galaxy S3 Developer Edition for Verizon due to Verizon?s policy. The Developer Edition comes with an unlocked bootloader but a much steeper price than the regular Verizon Galaxy S3.
As of yet, there is no Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Developer Edition which has led many to wonder whether or not there would ever be a way to get the bootloader on the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 unlocked.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is the carrier?s first version of the Galaxy Note phablet. The device runs on Verizon?s 4G LTE network and sports a 5.5-inch HD display, quad-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, an 8MP rear camera and more, making it one of the most desirable devices on Verizon?s network. And if the bootloader does indeed receive a public unlock method, it should become even more popular.
