The HP Pre 3 really needed some good news, one because we just found out that?s it not heading to Sprint and two because of how crowded the smartphone market is right now, and it looks like it may have just gotten some. According to a report from UnwiredView, the HP Pre 3 might be getting a processor bump from a single-core processor to a dual-core processor which, if true, makes it a lot more attractive.
When the HP Pre 3 was announced back in February, it had a single-core 1.4GHz processor. Well, HP is now listing the Pre 3 as boasting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor which is a huge jump and one that is necessary if it?s indeed headed to AT&T and Verizon. Both carriers are preparing to get several big name devices over the next couple of months and the Pre 3 needed something besides the lure webOS in order to compete.
Now, the fact that HP has done this isn?t surprising. A couple of days ago, the company announced that the AT&T version of the HP TouchPad would have a faster processor than the Wi-Fi only HP TouchPad that it released just a short time beforehand.
Unfortunately, this very well could be a mistake on HP?s end but if you?re thinking about getting this phone, keep your fingers crossed and hope that it?s not.
