Earlier today, we told you about a device called the HTC J Butterfly which is a quad-core powered 5-inch phablet that features a 1080p display. The device, which will be headed to Japan in December of this year, is also likely going to hit Verizon, possibly as the Droid Incredible X. And it too, given the timing of the Japanese launch and Verizon?s release practices could arrive in December.
While there had been a ton of speculation regarding a 5-inch HTC phablet device, a device that will compete with the Galaxy Note 2, the company hadn?t, up until today, confirmed its existence. However, the device is now out in the open as the Japan-bound HTC Butterfly J and it indeed sports a 5-inch full HD Super LCD 3 screen with a whopping 442 pixels per inch, 2 GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera.
Needless to say, it?s an intriguing device, even if its battery size is a mere 2,020mAh.

The device appears to be headed to Japan in December of this year though a specific date is as of yet, unknown. The company says that this model is Japan-specific, but we?ve heard that this device will likely be headed to Verizon and while November was previously rumored, right now, December is looking like a better bet.
There are two reasons for this. One, this is when the HTC Butterfly J will likely be hitting shelves in Japan. Android and Me seems to think that we could see a similar time frame with the Droid Incredible X?s release on Verizon and at this point, it remains a possibility as the phone is already in the hands of testers.

And two. While not publicly stated, Verizon has a tendency to wait 30 days or more before launching a similar product. It?s a way of avoiding buyers remorse complaints. Verizon has already confirmed that it will be launching the Galaxy Note 2 and right now, it looks like the device will, at the earliest be landing on October 25th. That?s when Sprint will get the device.
It?s also possible that Verizon will be launching the device in November as that is when AT&T looks like it may launch the Galaxy Note 2 and it?s when Samsung originally said it would arrive.
Given the grace period it gives device launches, the soonest that the Droid Incredible X might arrive would be November 25th. Even then, it would be encroaching a bit on the Galaxy Note 2, a device that should be a hit for the holiday.
So at this point, if it?s launching in the United States this year, it will likely be towards the very end of November or in December at some point. If it misses all of those, it will likely be shown off at CES in January where it has the potential to get lost in the shuffle, something that HTC and Verizon probably wouldn?t want.
Until we hear something regarding its release date, this is merely speculation. But I?d be surprised if it arrived before the month of December.
