HTC to Announce Quad-Core Phones in February, Not at CES?

If you were hoping to see quad-core phones from HTC unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas it appears that your dreams may have been dashed as Commercial Times is reporting that HTC won?t be unveiling any quad-core smartphones until the Mobile World Congress which is set to take place in February. And while this is still purely rumor, it shouldn?t be too shocking.

Things have been relatively silent in the build-up to this year?s CES and the only quad-core phone that we?ve heard about is the HTC Edge, a device that has been rumored for MWC. The HTC Edge is said to be just one of the new devices that the company will be introducing at the event next month.

So does this mean that we won?t see the Tegra 3 shown off in any smartphones next week?

It?s certainly a possibility.

Looks like the HTC Edge won't come until MWC in February.

Instead, we may get treated to some quad-core powered tablets that will attempt to do battle with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime which is the first tablet to hit the market with NVIDIA?s Tegra 3 chip on board.

And of course, it?s possible that another manufacturer might pull a quad-core phone out of its hat.

So, for those of you that have been waiting and waiting to see an HTC quad-core smartphone in the flesh, it would appear that you?re going to have to wait another month before you can feast your eyes on one.

Somehow, we think you?ll be able to survive.
