While we have suspected that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is likely pretty far in the distance, some damning evidence surfaced today in the form of an Ice Cream Sandwich update that is set to roll out of the Galaxy Nexus at some point in the future. Unless Verizon decides to kill that update, it?s looking like a long road ahead for Galaxy Nexus owners on Verizon.
Earlier today, the IMM76Q Ice Cream Sandwich update that we saw earlier in the month surfaced once again, yet another sign that Verizon is planning on pushing out another Ice Cream Sandwich update before it releases Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Nexus.
If history repeats itself, it could be weeks, even months before we see Verizon release this update to owners of the Nexus device which could mean that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out for the Galaxy Nexus could be weeks and months behind that.

We should mention that Sprint?s version of the Galaxy Nexus has not seen such an update leak out and that could mean that it?s primed and ready to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
We?ve already gotten a sign that the Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for devices on specific carriers could be awhile. Vodafone said last week that it?s still awaiting the update from Google for testing purposes which likely means that Verizon was and still is waiting for the update as well.
So with Verizon being notorious for being slow to update its devices, especially the Galaxy Nexus, and now today?s revelation about the incoming Ice Cream Sandwich update, we have no reason to believe that Verizon?s Galaxy Nexus won?t be the last Nexus to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
In fact, it might not even be part of the first first batch of devices slated to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as Google promised. That notion has been threatened by the fact that Samsung is rumored to be hard at work trying to get the Galaxy S III Android 4.1 update ready.

We?ve also heard that the Verizon Galaxy S III, specifically, might be close to seeing the software.
At this point, I don?t even want to imagine the size of the pitchforks that Galaxy Nexus owners would be holding if the Galaxy S III were to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean before it.
Hopefully, Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners get some positive news soon. After all, this is a device that was already beat to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the last generation Nexus smartphone, the Nexus S.
