Our friends at Dead Zebra have been busy since releasing Werewolf, the sporty Android collectible that was made available for the holiday season. The team endured hurricane Sandy, thankfully, and went to town on releasing its special Android collectible design for Christmas ? Frankie Frost.
Designed by Scott Tolleson, Frankie Frost embodies everything the wintry atmosphere of the Christmas season has to offer. Snow flakes, ice and the bluish tone of cold weather all shine through with this design, and it would look great up against any desk ornaments throughout the holiday season. The only thing that could have made Frankie better is a hook to hang him onto a fresh pine tree.
You can own one for just $10, and the buying period will be split into two: 11am PST on December 6th, then exactly 12 hours later for another round on that same day. These tend to go fast so Dead Zebra is limiting these to two per household ? sorry, no hording for eBay, folks.
The collectible will begin shipping December 10th, so it should be in folks? homes in time for Christmas (though those of you outside the US will want to select faster shipping times as delays could push delivery past December). Be sure to bookmark Dead Zebra?s site and return on the aforementioned day at the aforementioned time to secure yours.
To celebrate the 40th birthday of Pong, one of the earliest arcade video games ever created. Atari has created a modded Xbox 360 which is equipped with a LCD screen and been custom styled to look like the original Atari 2600 games console.
The original Atari 2600 game console was released back in October 1977 by Atari and used microprocessor-based hardware and ROM cartridges containing the games code, rather than using non-microprocessor dedicated hardware with games code built in.
Atari has also launched a new Pong game for iOS which is now available to download for free from the Apple iTunes App Store.?Pong World introduces a new generation to the classic game of PONG with a dazzling unique twist and colorful new look,?

?We were impressed with the creativity and original vision of indie developers in the PONG contest, and the grand prize winner receives full honors as the marquee release for the title?s 40 year anniversary,? said Giancarlo Mori, EVP Product Development, Atari. ?Pong Worldis an excellent tribute to one of our company?s legacy titles, giving players a fresh new look and the classic gameplay they know and love.?

Samsung And Apple World Smartphone Market Ahold ? Two of the company?s smartphones, Apple and Samsung, still seems to be the company that dominates the smartphone market of the world. And chances are, the trend still will continue for the next few years. This is expressed by the market research institute Gartner. They revealed that Samsung and Apple controls a total of 46.5 percent of the sales of the smartphone world. And, if the prosentasi is expressed in numbers, Samsung managed to sell as many as 55 million units of smartphones, while Apple has marketed the 23.6 million iPhones.
In addition to the two companies, other smartphone manufacturers are absolutely not able to interfere with the dominance of the two companies. Research in Motion (RIM), Nokia mobile phone or other Android manufacturers are still not able to interfere with the consistency of Apple and Samsung.
However, the Gartner note, Samsung is experiencing an increase in sales in the third quarter in the year 2012. For the Android platform, Samsung managed to overwhelm the market with percentage amounted to 45.0 percent, an increase of 52.5 percent in the previous quarter. While at the same time, Appel decreased by 13.9 percent.
Looking at joining the Point of View (POV)phenomenathat?s sweeping the World? Well GoProhas made it both easier and harder with the release of their newestHero3 line. Where previously you really only had one model to choose from, GoPro nowhas three models; the White, Silver and Black editions. The form factor remains the same between the three models, much slimmer and lighter than the Hero 1 or 2, they all come with a waterproof housing (which now has a flat lense on it for better underwater video out of the box unlike the spherical lense for the Hero2) , but the specifications differ depending on the price point. So how do you decide which model?s right? Here?s a really quick guide of the major differences.
(p.s. if you can?t see videos in this article please turn off your ad block software, just don?t forget to turn it on again )
Lense - All three models use a F2.8, 6 element optics but the Silver Edition adds a aspherical lens and the Black edition adds a glass aspherical lense. Better quality lense means better image quality ultimately.
Low Light ? This is something of interest to me however all GoPro tells you in the specs is the level is Consumer, Prosumer and Professional Grade respectively
Still Photos ? 5 MP, 11 MP and 12 MP. More pixels, more detail, more options to enlarge your shots or crop them.
Burst Mode ? The White Edition is restricted to 3 frames per second (3/1), the Silver adds 5/1 and 10/1 as well as a 10/2 second . To this the Black adds 30/1, 30/2 and 30/3. More frames per second or longer burst modes means that you?ve got a much better change of catching that ?ultimate moment?.
Video Modes- This is where most people need to look if POV video?s their primary use:
The White edition tops out at 1080p(16:9) and only supports Medium Field of View (FOV) in this mode and for slow motion it supports up to 60fps (720p).
The Silver edition has 1080p (16:9) up to Ultra Wide FOV, up to 120fps (in WVGA) and also has Protune , a mode that makes for more flexibility in post-production for things like colour correction (kind of like RAW mode on a digital camera)
The Black edition has all the bells and whistles with a maximum of 4K Cinema (17:9) , up to 120 fps (720p) and Protune Mode.
WiFi ? Though all three editions now have Wi-Fi built in now, rather than via a separate BacPac,only the Black Edition comes with the Remote Control as standard. With the release of the Android and iOS Wifi apps however this may not be an advantage though the remote is 3m waterproof unlike most phones or tablets.
Conclusion I?ve tried to cover all the major differences between the three models but it?s by no means an exhaustive comparison. Which model you go for really does depend on what you?re going to use your camera for, your level of experience and your video post-production workflow. Many people are comparing the White to the Hero 1 and the Silver to the Hero2 in terms of basic specification.
If you?re after fast and dirty videosor snapshots that you?re going to dump onto say Facebook with minimal post-production in lower resolutions then the White Edition may well do you just fine.
Those who are after more professional videos to load up in Full HD onto YouTube are probably better at looking at the Silver Edition as a minimum. It has much more flexible modes and Protune mode allows for much more flexible post-production work for more professional looking videos.
Ifyou want true cinema production quality video or want to integrate with other professional video sources then the Black Edition is your unit of choice. One thing to note here is that as well as the additional cost of the camera, you?re going to need faster (and more expensive) micro-SD cards to support things like Cinema Mode and the higher burst modes and because of the file sizes created by some of these modes you?ll need much bigger cards as well.
The other thing to keep in mind is that while you can always take the Black Edition ?down? in specs, you won?t be able to bring the White Edition ?up?. So if you do have the money, theBlack Edition will give you the most flexibility:)
Google Play Books gets better by the day, it seems, and now Google?s introduced even more functionality. Those of you who just can?t wait to throw your money at your favorite author before their novel is released can now do so. Google has announced the ability to pre-order books within the Play Store.
It?s straight forward, really: you buy the book like you would any other book or Play Store item, except you can?t access it until release date. We?re not sure how much value, if any, this adds to a particular user?s purchasing experience because we imagine there won?t be any sellout scenarios ? it?s digital, after all.
But no matter: the functionality is there if you want it. Use it as a nice gesture toward an author you really love, or just pay a book off ahead of time so you won?t have to worry about digging into your wallet the day it launches.
I?m not quite sure if there is any pre-loading functionality as there are no books I?m personally willing to pre-order right now, but that would be a great incentive to dishing money out early. Who really wants to sit there and wait on a download to finish when you could be reading your heart out? Exactly. Well, if you find it to be a useful tool you can give it a shot by pre-ordering some of these upcoming titles.

Once in a while, the crowd sourcing site known as Kickstarter has some winners tucked away under their belt, and you could say that the Memoto is one of them. Memoto originally intended to offer everyone the reality of a true photographic memory, and it seemed that this goal was achieved on Kickstarter in just 5 hours. Talk about fast! Most other projects take their own sweet time to materialize, while others never really end up in the promised land. Well, once it hit its Kickstarter goal in a matter of 5 hours, Memoto continued to rally support around the idea of developing a searchable, shareable memory, which in the end saw it surpass a couple of two stretch goals, while hitting the $500,000 jackpot in terms of funding, which is 10 times the original goal. Now that it has just a few more days to go, Memoto intends to head down the final stretch in glory with a third stretch goal that will deliver a range of useful new features.
Measuring roughly the size of a postage stamp, the Memoto camera, in essence, is an intelligent micro-device which is capable of capturing just about every moment of your life in photo keyframes. These are spontaneous shots that can be effortlessly searched, shared and revisited whenever you feel like it, where it is made possible thanks to Memoto?s innovative web service and mobile application. The camera will need to be connected to your clothing via a small stainless steel metal clip, where it gets to work in a subtle manner, capturing every special moment of your life just as it happens.
Some of the new features which will be integrated into the final product will include the ability to select just the correct time interval that the photos were taken from the Memoto application, the ability to bookmark specific photos by quickly tapping the camera after a special moment making it?s easy to later find the photo, as well as the option to retain photos which are stashed away locally when synchronizing with the computer, as well as uploading them to the cloud.
The third stretch goal? Memoto intends to develop a wide-angle camera lens, a waterproof case and a Wi-Fi dock, so are you going to help spur them on in achieving this final stretch goal?
Cyber Monday is the year?s second biggest shopping day, but when it comes to online purchases it is probably the largest one of the year. Online shoppers are estimated to have spent $1.98 billion. That is the most ever, according to Adobe?s Digital Index.
Not surprisingly, mobile devices were a huge part of online shopping this year, on November 26th. In fact, sales from smartphones and tablets doubled this year. Tablets sales growth was 110% and smartphone sales growth was 100%. Which items had the most sales growth? That would be Toys and Health and Beauty categories.
Interestingly, Social network referrals contributed only 2% to the sales, but those 2% were dominated by Facebook and Twitter, and Pinterest grabbed another 15%. Cyber Monday was a huge success for online stores.

Google has begun sending out emails informing some of those who ordered the Nexus 4 on its release date that their backordered Nexus 4 will be arriving at some point this week.
The company has sent out an email informing some of those Nexus 4 customers who ordered on November 13th but were subsequently told that their Nexus 4 was backordered and wouldn?t be arriving for three weeks. The email implies that at least some Nexus 4 orders will be sent out this week though Google remains coy about any specifics in regards to the shipping date.
Nexus 4 orders will be shipping out again this week.
Google says, in the email, that it will send out an email that contains tracking information to those who will be receiving their Nexus 4 order this week. Thus far, we haven?t heard from anyone who has received any type of tracking information. Instead, the email is generic.
Here is the email that Google is sending to some of those who ordered the Nexus 4 on day one.
Your Nexus 4 order is scheduled to ship this week. We?ll send you a notification, including tracking information, when it?s on the way.
Please note that your order will be charged in full when it ships. As a courtesy and to thank you for your patience, you?ll then receive a credit for the shipping charge within 7 business days.
Thanks again,
The Google Play Team
It?s unclear how many Nexus 4 customers received this email but we?ve heard from more than a few who received it so it appears that this new shipment may cover a wide swath of those who have been waiting since earlier this month for their Nexus 4 to arrive.
What?s also unclear is what this means for those that weren?t able to place an order on day one. Since November 13th, the Nexus 4 has been unavailable through Google?s Play Store leaving many to wonder whether stock would return. It could be that stock returns to the Google Play Store soon but that remains to be seen.
Google?s Nexus 4 launch was marred by site issues due to the interest in Google?s new device. Many of those who tried to pre-order the device were greeted with error?s and some who ordered were greeted with a back order which Google promised to tackle in three weeks time.
Fortunately, it looks like Google made good on its promise.

If LG hopes to become a serious contender as an Android smartphone maker, there is no time to waste in the wake of their recently released Optimus G. Out only a few months, and perhaps overshadowed by the Nexus 4 (which is largely based on the flagship phone from LG), a sequel is already in the works, according to Korean ragMK Business News, and it could launch as early as next May.
The phone is dubbed the LG Optimus G2 ? a no-brainer ? and if reported specs pan out it should continue to push the boundaries of what a top-tier Android device offers. LG appears ready to introduce the phone with a 1080p display measuring in at five inches, a spec that looks like it will become the new standard in the wake of HTC?s Droid DNA and rumors of a similar hardware setup for the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The Optimus G2 should continue to excel when it comes to processing power. A 2.0GHz chipset is rumored for the handset, though the specifics are a mystery at this point.
The original Optimus G, which is currently available for Sprint and AT&T in the US, hasn?t been a runaway success in terms of sales, but the phone has earned high marks from pundits around the tech world. For that reason it stands as a real achievement for LG, a company that has had some recent struggles to keep pace with local Korean competitor Samsung and other makers of Android smartphones.
As of early this year, LG had stated a new vision that would focus on quality device experiences versus an abundance of releases, and the Optimus G demonstrates how honing in on what matters to users can breed promising results. Hopefully the Optimus G2 can continue the trend.
