Sony announces my Xperia remote tracking service

A few months back Sony trademarked the term ?My Xperia?. The assumption was that the company was working on a home-made cloud storage service, but that turns out not to be the case. ?my Xperia? is actually a smartphone tracking service.

It is meant to be used in the event of theft or if you lose your Sony Xperia handset. With my Xperia, you can locate your Sony smartphone by making it beep or by viewing its location on a map. You can also remotely erase its data and lock the device down once registered with my Xperia. Who doesn?t love the ability to find your phone when it is lost?

However my Xperia isn?t available to all Sony smartphone owners yet. The service is still in the beta stage, only select Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones will be allowed to participate, starting with the Sony Xperia acro S and continuing with other recent Sony devices later on. Right now, only users in the Nordic countries have access to it.
