BlackBerry PlayBook LTE Launching in April?

While RIM?s BlackBerry PlayBook may never get Netflix support, it might just be getting 4G LTE support come April, this according to a leaked document courtesy of MobileSyrup. This isn?t surprising, considering that back in August, RIM confirmed to us that it was indeed still developing a 4G LTE enabled BlackBerry PlayBook, even after U.S. carrier Sprint decided to cancel its 4G flavored version of the tablet.

The advertisement isn?t clear about exactly when RIM will be launching the 4G LTE tablet and it?s unclear as to whom it will be going to, if it does indeed arrive.

Currently, the only two major U.S. carriers with 4G LTE networks in place are AT&T and Verizon. Sprint hopes to have its 4G LTE network in place by the middle of 2012 while T-Mobile won?t have a 4G LTE network in place until 2013.

BlackBerry PlayBook LTE Launching in Early April?

RIM, which is based in Canada, would probably look to release this device on Canadian carriers as well and there are more than a few of them that have 4G LTE networks in place.

The news comes at an interesting time for RIM?s tablet.

Earlier this week, the company rolled out the highly anticipated BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 which brought along native email, contacts and the ability to use Android applications amongst other features.

And while the software had been a bright spot for the fledgling company, the PlayBook?s coming out party took a hit when Netflix revealed that it currently has no plans to offer an app for the PlayBook or any other BlackBerry devices.

Lack of applications for the PlayBook on RIM?s BlackBerry App World has been cited as one of the reasons the tablet has been getting hammered by the iPad and other tablets in sales.

It?s unclear if RIM will announce this device at the Mobile World Congress or during a separate event later on this year.
