Samsung Galaxy Tab Guide | 10.1, 8.9 and 7-inch Tablets Explained

Samsung?s newest tablet, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, goes on sale this weekend for $249. It will be the fourth 7-inch Galaxy Tab the company has released in the past couple of years and is very close in design and hardware to the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which came out at the end of last year.

And let?s not forget the recently released Galaxy Tab 7.7 on Verizon Wireless?

Yeah, navigating all of this can be a bit confusing, so I put together a Guide to the Galaxy Tab to help you sort them out. Below is a list of all the Samsung tablets either currently on sale or announced for this year starting with 10-inch devices and moving on down. (I know I?m cheating a little by including the Galaxy Note, but it?s a tablet!)

All of the main prices listed are for the Wi-Fi only versions unless otherwise indicated. Carrier pricing is with a two-year contract.

Get this Tab if you want a super thin and super light tablet that can fit in a small bag or large pocket, has an amazing display, and offers constant mobile data connectivity. It?s expensive, but justifies the price for the intended audience. Sadly: no Wi-Fi version. Get this Tab if you?ve been eyeing the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet but want a device that has all the features and hardware full-fledged tablets offer. Get this Tab if you like the Tab 2 7.0 but want slightly better hardware. Samsung is phasing this model out (yes, even though it?s only a few months old) so it may be hard to find. Those you do find will probably be at a discount.

The first Galaxy Tab came out in 2010 and is still available today, but not for a price that matches the value. Though it launched on all four major carriers, only two still have it listed. Unless you get an extremely good deal, skip this in favor of a newer model.
