Apple ?Blown Away? by Demand for iPhone 5

In a statement that will not shock anyone, Apple said that it was ?blown away? by the demand consumers have shown for the iPhone 5 which was put up for pre-order earlier today.

Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerrisreleased a statement to The Loop stating that ?pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible? and that the company has ?been completely blown away by the customer response.?

Indeed, response to the iPhone 5 has been nothing short of what many have come to expect from an iPhone launch. The iPhone 5 is currently sold out at both AT&T and Verizon with deliveries pushed beyond its September 21st release date while the 16GB iPhone 5 model at Sprint is currently slated to head out two weeks from now.

Both the 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5 remain in-stock through Sprint.

Apple says it?s blown away by the demand for the iPhone 5.

Apple?s latest iPhone went up for pre-order at midnight and almost immediately, AT&T?s website showed signs of duress. Customers who were looking to pre-order through the iPhones oldest carrier were met with broken webpages and slow loading times. Many customers instead went through Apple?s website to pre-order the device.

Customers pre-ordering through Sprint and Verizon did not experience issues on par with AT&T?s.

The iPhone 5 represents a huge change for Apple?s iPhone line. The company not only increased the size of the device?s screen from 3.5-inches to 4-inches, but it also added 4G LTE data speeds which will allow for customers on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile to pull down data speeds that can reach up to 10 times faster than normal 3G.

In addition, the new iPhone 5 will come with a new design that features both glass and aluminum, as well as a new A6 processor and Apple?s new mobile operating system, iOS 6.

The device, while up for pre-order today, will not arrive in-stores until September 21st.

Apple?s iPhone 5 could, if analysts are correct, be the biggest iPhone launch ever. Piper Jaffrayanalyst Gene Munster believes Apple will sell 10 million iPhone 5 units in September alone. While that remains to be seen, it appears that Apple is off to a good start.
