Developer Ports Ice Cream Sandwich Onto Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet

Though the Kindle Fire was launched with its own proprietary user interface on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, that?s not stopping the developer community from finding alternative use and expand the tablet?s appeal beyond Amazon?s ecosystem. One developer,G1011999, was able to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onto Amazon?s debut tablet and took video of the Google?s new OS on his tablet.

Right now, it appears that Ice Cream Sandwich is running a little bit laggy when transitioning between screens on the Kindle Fire?s hardware. Additionally, the developer didn?t show much in terms of apps and the performance of apps on the Kindle Fire?s limited RAM and dual-core CPU.

The developer says he?ll release his work to the community, so Kindle Fire owners who are daring can try this hack at home.
