All kinds of items go on sale eventually. Many phones end up costing just $0.99 or are even free on contract. But do you expect to get a BMW for that price? Never. But it has happened this week in New Zealand. A car dealership named Stadium Cars, accidentally sold a 1994 blue BMW 320i online for just $1.
A Trade Me buyer named ?bignz? saw the deal and snagged it up. How could he resist? He clicked the ?buy now? button and became the new proud owner of the car. Good thing the dealership apparently honored the sale, despite the fact that it was a mistake. Stadium Cars manager Mike Nokes said the price was an error and said that the dealership will usually put up cars for auction on the site with a $1 reserve. Unfortunately the buy now option was added by mistake.
?I thought, ?Whoops?, but it is what it is. You can only laugh about it,? Nokes said. ?Obviously not an ideal outcome for us as the seller. However, we are firm believers in the auction process and for it to be fair to buyers and sellers alike.? Too bad it will cost them, but it?s great that they stand behind their mistake and are handling it honorably.
