An AT&T corporate retail store employee in the Northern California area had informed me that area employees are beginning their iOS 5 training this weekend, suggesting that the elusive iPhone 5 may be launching soon. According to recent chatter, the iPhone 5 is rumored to be made available for purchase in the early October time frame for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon, with possibly T-Mobile USA included in the mix.
The employee goes on to mention that training would be handled by Apple itself, and not from AT&T trainers.
Additional details about the training was not given, and it?s unclear if the Northern California corporate-owned AT&T retail store is among the first to receive the training, or if it?s joining other stores that already have received the training ahead of time.
Whatever the case may be, with retail employees now beginning to receive training on the iOS 5 operating system?retail employees probably won?t be seeing the iPhone 5 until it gets officially announced by Apple if new CEO Tim Cook maintains the same culture of secrecy as his predecessor Steve Jobs?and would probably be briefed on the major new features of the OS in an effort to get them acquainted with the software that runs the next-generation iPhone before the hardware is released.
Name of the AT&T employee and location of the store is being withheld to protect the identity of the source.
